Coccinelle's Book Club 2023

In 2022 I graduated with a BA in English Literature and Media. This meant reading 2 books per week, an ungodly amount of secondary readings and countless pages barely flicked through. Because this is what literature students won't tell you: only a few of us manage to read everything.

People's preconceptions that studying English is for lazy people only aggravated this overwhelming feeling to be failing at my job. I only felt valid if the books I consumed were considered highbrow literature so I progressively lost passion for the thing that brought me to university in the first place.

I slowly regained interest in reading throughout the summer but as soon as class resumed my discipline was out of the window.

Thus, I challenged myself to read 15 books in 2023. I first updated my Goodreads' account and got started in early January. Goodreads is an American social cataloguing website and a subsidiary of Amazon that allows users to search its database of books, annotations, quotes, and reviews. Almost like a giant online book club. So it gave me an idea.

Coccinelle's Book Club - The Concept

Each month, I will post a book on my Instagram story with its back cover. Once I am done with the book I will post a short critical review under an Instagram post, open the conversation and post about it on the blog.

There's no pressure to read the book but those who have and those who already did are more than welcome to DM me, discuss in the comment section and perhaps share some other literature-related thoughts.

I will give a note out of five stars on the book and set a poll on the blog's article for you to share your note too.

No big commitment, just a couple of bookworms hanging out online.
