April & May's Reading

APRIL REVIEW

King Kong Theory -Virginie Despente ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

In Despentes's writing, King Kong becomes a metaphor for sexuality before the separation of the genders was politically imposed at the end of the nineteenth century.

Despentes is raw and provocative. Drawn from her own experience, King Kong Theory upsets and shocks as the book brutally challenges biases regarding sex, sexual assault and gender roles. Presented as a manifesto for new punk feminism, KKT was an addictive read which sparked many contradictory emotions. I personally wouldn't recommend this book as an 'introductory' piece of feminist theory but if you have some background in the matter, it's an excellent piece of work and a must-read.

MAY REVIEW

The only review happening throughout May was my Literature Review for my MSc Dissertation. Boring stuff. Will absolutely spare you the details. 0/5 stars.
